Taking OMAPURE™ : Possible Side Effects and Precautions
Possible Side Effects
Most people taking OMAPURE™ do not experience any side effects.
When side effects occur, they are typically mild and go away after a few days or weeks.
|“A fish oil supplement containing omega-3 EFAs is a natural alternative treatment that reduces the inflammatory process and thereby reduces pain, with fewer side effects.”
|-University of Pittsburgh Research Note, 2006
When taken as directed, OMAPURE™ has no known safety risks and/or dangerous side effects. The amount of Omega-3 found in OMAPURE™ is classified by the FDA as GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe). 1
The most common side effect (occurring in less than 10% of users) is mild gastrointestinal upset and repeat (burping). In such instances, take OMAPURE™ with water before full meals or adjust your daily dose or dosing schedule.
OMAPURET should be used with caution in patients with known sensitivity or allergy to fish. You may read our Allergen Statement for more information.
Please read the following information carefully before taking OMAPURE™. Keep in mind that the information provided below is intended to supplement the advice of your physician and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical treatment.
Bleeding: Daily doses of 3 grams or greater of Omega-3 may increase the risk of bleeding. OMAPURE™ includes about 2.7 grams of Omega-3 and there is little evidence of significant bleeding risk at this dose.1 In theory, however, Omega-3 fatty acids may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anti-coagulants (“blood thinners”) such as aspirin or warfarin (Coumadin®). Therefore OMAPURE™ should be taken with anticoagulant medication only under the close supervision of a physician.
Allergies: OMAPURE™ should be used with caution in patients with known sensitivity or allergy to fish.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: It has been suggested that high intake of Omega-3 fatty acids during pregnancy, particularly DHA, may increase birth weight and gestational length. 2 However, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant woman. Therefore, pregnant and nursing women should not take OMAPURE™ without the approval and supervision of a physician.
Children under 18: OMAPURE™ should only be taken under the close supervision of a pediatrician.
Blood Pressure: Multiple human trials report small reductions in blood pressure with intake of Omega-3 fatty acids. Individuals with low blood pressure should consult their physician.
